Why I Started My Tech Journey

Why I Started My Tech Journey

Hi Viewers, this article might not be perfect but I am about to share a part of my story on why I started my tech journey.

Hmm, I kinda had a roughy path before I came to a conclusion that tech was for me.

The Story

Back then in school, like primary school. We do have computer practical class and I always look forward to that moment when my teacher asks us to go to the lab. It was always fun for me to hold the mouse, type on the keyboard and other things. Until I decided to attend a computer training when I finished my JSS3. It was a fun experience because I get to do a lot of practical on my own and I also got a laptop to myself. I do typing, designing and other stuffs. I usually type exam scripts for schools as practical too. I graduated from Computer Appreciation then moved into Computer Maintenance and Repair, mehnnn this course was so much fun… Like I will open up the system unit then try to fix the issues that computer is having… I really enjoyed it because I was solving problems… even in school I do like to solve problems like teaching my fellow mates what they don’t understand in any topics… So there was a day when God decided that okay oo this girl should go and see the real world, I am sure she will love it and that takes us to the Journey.

The Journey

How it started

I was having a class that day when my computer science teacher in school called me and asked me to see him in his office when I’m done with my current class. After my class I went to see him and he was like there is a coding program that will be ongoing for 4 weeks but it once every week, he said our school was given 1 slot i.e only a student can attend from my school, such a cool opportunity right. He said he put down my name for it that I should inform my parents but in my mind I’m really going for it, I was very happy because I know it my way to greatness. To cut the story short, I attended the program and came third in the competition, the program was about creating games with frameworks, it was really fun. Coming third was cool, I got a scholarship from the organization that hosted the program, that means I will be attending their programs for free. Not until something bad happened, mehnn it was really painful. My laptop got bad and I couldn’t afford anyone again but I continued attending the program even though I was laptopless. So after 3 years with the organization, I was employed to work with them in teaching. I teach kids how to program in a simple way they can understand and I’m proud to say I still work for them. The money I gathered from it was what I used to get a new laptop for myself which led me to thinking what tech journey should I venture into?

How it’s going

During last year, I got admission into the university and I joined DSC group to do mobile development. It really good to have time and resources. I had time but resources were not enough so I had to drop out but coronavirus decided to say hey girl this tech is for you; you can’t run away from it… I registered for few internships and got into one during the pandemic but really time wasn’t sufficient for me. I am always working for my parents because they don’t really believe in the tech thing. They feel vocational work is better but I tried pleasing them because African parents e get as e be oo… Even with all the stress I went through, I was able to have a strong leg in tech, God really helped because I have gained a lot, I have helped a lot of people with my knowledge and I also connected with people.

Conclusion

My conclusion is that I will keep going because if I stop, I am going back. It my field and I don’t have a choice. Technology is really going a long way and I also want to be one of the people that has solved issues in the world with technology. And if you are also faced with issues like this, don’t stop keep moving praying. The Lord is your strength.
